Résumé de l'article de Jocelyne PORCHER : Elevage/industriel : penser l'impensable ?

Le travail dans les productions animales, bien qu'il paraisse ressortir pour la majorité d'entre nous à un monde connu, l'élevage, est méconnu dans sa dimension la plus prégnante, à savoir son caractère industriel. Or, élevage et productions animales relèvent de mondes différents. Leur rapprochement antinomique : élevage/industrie, ancré dans la rationalité instrumentale, prétend au projet d'élever des animaux dans un cadre industriel, i. e. de les élever et de les produire à la fois. Dans le réel du travail, qui tend, de manière assumée par ses concepteurs, à devenir un travail de mort, rationalisé et rentabilisé, les travailleurs, mais également toute personne confrontée à ces systèmes, et notamment les chercheurs, doivent faire face à la violence intrinsèque de cette aporie. A l'opposé de la puissance de l'éthique du travail avec les animaux historiquement à l'oeuvre en élevage, la vacance de la pensée et du sens moral dans les systèmes industriels conduit au développement autoproduit et consenti d'un système que l'on peut difficilement soustraire à la référence au système de pensée nazi.

Summary : Industrial Farming : Thinking of the Unthinkable ?

Work in animal productions is unrecognized un his industrial characteristics, however it belongs, for the majority of people, to a known world as farming. But farming and animal productions depend on opposite worlds. Putting them together in an antinomic way as farming/industry rooted in instrumental rationality, tries to raise animals in an industrial framework, in order to raise and product them in the same time. Real of work becomes a work of death, assumed by his designers, rationalised and profitable. In this context, workers but also every person confronted to these systems, as researchers, have to face the intrinsic violence linked to this aporia. On the opposite of power of ethics in work with animals historically performed in farming, the lack of thinking and moral sense in industrial systems leads to the self-produced and agreed development of a system, that we can hardly avoid anymore to be referred to the Nazi system of thinking.
